On Sunday, Ayreheart will appear in concert at Peter Hall at Moravian College in Bethlehem for a program that combines Renaissance music from the British Isles with acoustic rock originals. Performing with vocals, lutes, guitar, violin, bass and percussion, Ayreheart will feature music of John Dowland and William Byrd, as well as old ballad tunes from England, Scotland and Wales.
Ayreheart's first video has been released. "Taste of Lightning" is an original composition by lutenist Ronn McFarlane. In addition to being the first video for the group, this is also the first audio recording for the group with lead singer Brian Kay. A studio recording of "Taste of Lightning" will be included on Ayreheart's upcoming album of all-original music.
Ronn was a featured artist on Oregon Public Broadcasting's Artbeat television program. In the interview, Ronn discusses the origins of his love for music, how he came to play the lute, and his original compositions for the lute.
Showtime's "The Borgias" to use Ronn McFarlane's lute tracks: This series depicts the powerful 16th century Italian family, has licensed two tracks from Ronn McFarlane's discography: "Catena d'Amore" by Cesare Negri from the Between Two Hearts CD, and "Passacaglia" by Alessandro Piccinni from The Renaissance Lute CD for the premier episode of its second season. The new season premiers on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at 10 PM ET/PT.
